What inspired you to pursue a career in graphic design, and how did you start your journey at Wander Creative?

I’ve always had a passion for creativity since I was a little kid, so design was an easy choice for me! Post-college, I was a designer for about 5 years for one company within their marketing department and was looking to grow my skills even further. The thing that attracted me to Wander was the opportunity to design for multiple clients and brands, rather than just one. I know this breadth of work has pushed me to grow as a creative, and that excites me!

Can you share a project you’ve worked on at Wander Creative that you’re particularly proud of, and what made it special?

We’ve done quite a bit, so it’s hard to choose! But I do love the way we’ve been able to push the look and feel of so many social accounts (with the help and direction of our skilled social media mogul, Chloe). Hope Darst and AccessMore are two that come to mind!

How do you stay updated with the latest design trends and technologies, and how do you incorporate them into your work?

Design is everywhere! It’s easy to stay up to date on design trends through social media and marketing out in the world (even grocery store food packaging can get inspiration flowing!). I think the hardest part though is not letting that inspiration go to waste without using it, especially when we are inundated with so much content every day. We can be so inspired, and then forget about what we even saw a few minutes later. Because of that, I’ve really tried to organize the way I consume and save content (screenshots in albums on my phone. Saved instagram posts in organized folders based on how they inspired me.. was it the bold type? Layout? Photo style? Etc.). I do this so that when new projects come about, I have a personal library of things I can reference based on what I am needing inspiration for.

What is your creative process like when starting a new design project, and how do you approach collaborating with clients and other team members?

I typically start every project with some initial gut-reaction designs to get things on the screen. From there, I then reference my inspiration library! I try and pull elements from a few different sources to create some completely new concepts. I end up creating a lot of variations and pair down from there after comparing and deciphering which designs are strongest. And after looking at a project too long, I often find myself turning to my team to get feedback. it’s always helpful to have fresh eyes on a project!

Outside of work, what are some of your personal interests and hobbies that help you stay balanced and inspired?
