Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what inspired you to pursue a career in social media management?
I’m originally from small town Indiana where I graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Journalism Graphics. I’ve always been a bit of a social media junkie, so finding a way to blend that and design into a career was perfect. Now I get to connect with other creatives every day and help brands tell their stories online, which is such a cool thing to do for a living!
What does a typical day look like for you as a social media manager at Wander Creative?
Honestly, no two days are the same, which is one of the things I love most! Some days, I’m out with clients for content shoots—planning, filming, and capturing content for their socials. On other days, I’m planning out content calendars, brainstorming strategies, and collaborating with our designers. Also very thankful to have a hybrid work schedule, so you can usually find me at a coffee shop throughout the week [Barista Parlor in Germantown is my favorite :)]
What do you find most challenging and most rewarding about your position at Wander Creative?
The biggest challenge is definitely staying ahead of all the social media trends. Platforms are constantly updating, and new trends pop up almost daily. It’s a lot to keep track of, but I secretly kind of love it because it keeps me on my toes and I’m always learning something new. The most rewarding aspect of my position is definitely seeing the difference our work makes for clients. There’s something really special about watching a brand grow and knowing you had a part in that. Plus, getting to work with a team that’s driven by purpose is so fulfilling. Social media can be a bit of a double-edged sword, but I love being part of a team that’s focused on creating meaningful content that truly connects people.
What is your favorite platform, and what trends on social media are you excited about?
Instagram will always have a special place in my heart. It’s where I feel most connected, and I love how you can really show off your personality and creativity through your feed. It’s also such a great platform for discovering new people, brands, and inspiration. Right now, I’m excited about how short-form video content is continuing to evolve. It’s a great way for brands and creators to engage more authentically and tell stories in a way that feels authentic.
Outside of work, what are some of your personal interests and hobbies that help you stay balanced and inspired?
I’m all about creative outlets! I love to paint and draw, and since COVID, baking has become my newest hobby—pumpkin chocolate chip cookies are my go-to for fall. I’m also a huge fan of live music, and I’m always the friend who’s up for a spontaneous concert, even if I’ve never heard of the band!
